could be good.. The only way to tell is to stick it back in and try it...

Do you have any Aux relays that are not being used? If so, you can just use one of them. As an example let's say you are not using Aux 6... Just plug the coil wire from the current booster relay into the Aux 6 connector on the main board. Then reprogram Aux 6 to whatever schedule you now have set up for the original booster pump relay..

Another option would be to buy two new plug in chips that are used to drive the relays.. Ogdento, knows the part number.

Before you try Jim's test (which will help determine if on of the relay driver chips is bad) tell us this...

when you power up your board and the cleaner pump immediately turns on, is the corresponding cleaner LED on the EasyTouch ON or OFF?

If the cleaner LED is OFF, but the pump is running... The easy touch didn't tell the pump to turn on and the driver chip is almost certainly the problem, so now try what Jim said.

If Jim's suggestion works for you, great! If not you can buy new relay driver chips online, or swap the relay driver chips from your original board into your current board (they are the 2 socket chips labelled ULN2803A... carefully pry them out with a small screwdriver)

Cleaner LED is not on.

I don't see another place to plug this back in. J8-J15 are occupied excluding the fact that J9 could be bad.

Special purpose relay outputs are unused. Elec Heater, Solar, 2 Speed and Spa. Can one of these be used?!?

If the led is not on that means that one of the driver chips is bad.. I suggest you replace both of them. You can remove the ones from your old card and install in the new card, or you could just buy new ones at a place like DigiKey... As Ogdento point out above in post 59.

That is what I would do, but if you want to use a different relay, you need to see if you have an unused one.

Just because a relay is plugged into the main board, does not mean it is used... Look under the panel at the bottom of the main enclosure and see if any of the relays are not being used.

It will be obvious, as they will not have any wires (other then the very small coil wires) attached..

Swapped boards out to try the old -- which has no issue with the booster running when powered on, with all cables plugged in as pictured above.

However, it does not communicate with the variable speed pump - as that does not show display not active.

Sounds like I will need to try the options above. Thanks.

Taking off the main electrical panel (I've never seen in it before) was eye opening for me. I'm starting to get how everything is truly wired. Hopefully, this will be my second to last post on this topic (reserving the final one - for a final thank you).

I've now swapped out boards again. I'm back to the new one, with the bad relay. I checked and it appears as though AUX7 & AUX8 are not used, as they only have red coily wires coming from their tops.

I've deleted the prior cleaning/aux from settings, and modified the Circuit Name for Circuit #9/18 to be on Circuit AUX7 [Cleaner]. I've gone in to Circuit/Functions and listed [CLEANER] [MSTR CLEANER] Freeze = No.

By doing this, the Cleaner lights steady red but does not run. Is the next and final step to move wires with the power off?

Before doing so, I just wanted to confirm that I should be able to resolve this by now moving the wiring from one AUX (Cleaner use to be on AUX1 per the settings) to another (AUX7). Aux7 use to be on Circuit 9 (as it is today) under Circuit AUX7.

If I look at the existing Wiring on AUX1, I have questions why the cleaner is on AUX1 -- but besides that, I see red, green & yellow wires. I also see wires connecting AUX1 to AUX2. Where would the short yellow wire go, as they won't reach AUX2 from AUX7. Just want to validate that moving all of the wires over to the far right lower AUX7 should get the cleaner running again.

Hey Mike,
Jim wasn't suggesting that you change any of the relay wiring behind the mains panel... don't mess with those! He just wanted you to look to see if any relays aren't being used

As you found, the two lower right relays (we'll call them relay 7 and 8) are not being used... so just unplug the red connector that's in the Aux7/J15 spot on the Easytouch board leave it disconnected. Then move the red connector that's in the Aux1/J9 spot to the newly emptied Aux7/J15 spot.

Now the circuit that's programmed to Aux7 (which is now your cleaner) will turn on the relay that the Aux1 circuit used to turn on.

I may not have explained that well - bit I got that part done previously but the cleaner doesn't move. The cleaner light does stay steady red. I have what was in J15 unplugged, I have the red cable that I had Sharpie labeled as 9 (was in J9 ... now in J15) and J9 is empty.

Cleaner does not appear to run.

Please bring me up to speed... let me know if the following is correct...

You have the new card installed.. this card continually energies any relay connected to the Aux1/J9 connector on the main card.. You have now nothing plugged into Aux1/J9.

You did NOT move any AC power wires on the Aux 1 (cleaner) relay.

You have taken the small coil wires from the Aux 1 relay, unplugged them from Aux1/J9 on the main card, and plugged them into the Aux7/J15..

You programmed Aux 7 as your cleaner...

So, when you push the Aux 7 button your cleaner booster pump should run..

Do you hear the Aux one relay (now being closed by Aux 7 button) close when you push Aux 7?

Trying to think about this logically, the booster pump worked (all the time) when the new card was first installed.. Since you did not make any changes to the relay itself, this means that we must not be closing the relay. In theory, just pushing the Aux 7 button (ON the main Panel) should make the pump run...

Do you have a voltmeter?

I looked at your google pic... In the upper left of the Pic is the Pump/Filter relay.. the next relay to the right is the Aux1 relay.

The yellow wires come from the load side of the Pump/Filter relay and provide power to the Aux1 relay

only when the Pump/Filter relay is closed. This only happens if the ET is telling the IntelliFlo to run, it will not happen in the Service mode.. You must be in the Pool mode or Spa mode for the Pump/Filter relay to close.. ( I noticed in another pic that you were in auto but neither the Pool Mode or Spa mode was showing on your little LCD display...)

When you push the Aux7 button

on the main panel, does the light above the button turn on?

At this point I am not worried about the cleaner working or not.. All I want to do is close the Aux1 relay and send power to the booster pump and hear it run..

Hello, if I'm understanding your question correctly then when I push the Aux7 button when the pool is not running, the LCD panel goes to pool mode and the filter light comes on. However, the Aux7 button continues to flash red. The pool filter light does turn on, however, the button 7 continues to flash red and the cleaner does not run. Nor does the pool. The LCD display has DEL under the temperature which it does not if I just run the filter via the button on it's own. If I just push the filter button on the panel the pool runs without issue and there is no deal on the LCD display.

I use to but don't any longer. Should I pick one up tomorrow?

The panel is in DELay mode. The flashing LED indicates the circuit causing the delay. In this case, the ET wants to make sure the main pump is running before starting the booster pump. It is operating as expected.

You can wait 10 minutes for the delay to expire. Or you can manually start the filter pump, then start the booster pump, then cancel the delay in the ET's menu.

He sure has! If I put Aux7 on a schedule and allow it to go on delay it does now kick on ten or so minutes later. Cleaner runs fine.

However, the delay appears to keep coming back on each time whether manually started or via a program.

Looked for a way to delay cancel in ET but don't see anything specific to aux7. Tried cancelling globally but am not sure how to get delay to stop coming on.
